Solid and tight binding, navy cloth with light blue lettering and Forum Books colophon on front board. Corners front and back bumped and rubbed, spine ends softly bumped. Dust-jacket, vintage, spine head missing large piece, spine heel has triangular piece missing, chips on lower edge. Pages heavily toned, thinner paper in accordance with a ruling of the War Production Board and the wartime need to conserve materials and manpower. Title page torn at upper edge, closed, rough cut on fore-edge and lower edge, green remainder mark on lower edge. Cleveland, OH: The World Publishing Company, 1944, stated First Printing. 5.75" x 8.5" tall; 203 pages.

Description:
World Publishing, 1944. First Thus. Hardcover. Very Good. Reprint of the two classic Chandler novels. 'First printing June 1944' stated. 8vo in navy cloth, titles and devices in light blue, top edge stained grey. Binding tight and sqaure, small white stain on the foredge, light white streak along the front gutter, one small white stain on the rear board. The corners of the dustjacket are rubbed through, shallow chipping at the spine ends, shallow chipping and creassing at the top of the front panel, short tape reapair at the atop left of the rear panel, penny-sized chip at the top of the rear panel.
