Book Description

Staunton, Virginia Frank Kurtz (1942)., 1942. 1st Edition. Soft cover. Pictorial paper covers and contents in very good condition. 8" x 5.5" (16)pp Contains lyrics, melody lines and guitar chords to 12 songs written by Frank Salt & Richard Liller, and four by Dick Hart. The songs by Salt and Liller are sentimental, e.g., Who'll Take the Place of Mother, Old Fashioned Family Prayers, etc. More interesting, perhaps, are four sets of lyrics to topical songs by Dick Hart: The Farmer's Letter to the President; Talking Blues; Our Good Old Franklin D; and Dollar and the Devil. Laid in are three photographs, two printed in sepia on light stock and the third on emulsion paper. The subjects are identified in pencil on the versos: Buddy Frank (young boy with fiddle and bow); Lulu and Wimpy (silly-looking woman perched on fat man's knee); Sunset Jamboree (group portrait of 12 musicians, each identified on the photograph). Illustrated by 3 photographs laid in. First Edition. Binding is original wraps.
