Written in ink in a rough but legible hand, one small hole. 9.5" x 8" 1.5 pages She is glad to hear the family is well, and supposes they've seen Mrs. Emerson who can tell them all about her. ".If you get the money I wish you to pay it to Bugby.Tell EJB thank him for the lock of hair.I work from 5 in the morning till 7 at night [in the Lowell mills?] I had to beg hard to get out to write this. If you can, you may send me a pare [sic] of hose by Mrs. E. if providence permits.I have to write sitting on a trunk with a bandbox in my lap for a table, so if I write a better lawyer's hand than common you need not wonder." But it does seem to me as if people grow more attached to the world and even stronger ties to be broken when we die if we are married than if we are single.The youngest of Brother's children, 2-1/2-year-old Eva, was given to me for the present, just one of the sweetest children ever was. If you had only been here we would have had a little wine.Don't you fail of coming to Otego this winter if Mr. Seely invites you.the day before Christmas to Otego, and Christmas day to Laurens. Then we will go to Louisville to Church.I told Mr. Dean of Mr. Seely's musical traits. I found on my return an invitation to a party in Oneonta, Thanksgiving eve.
