About This Item

St. Catharines, Ontario: Vanwell, 1987. 128 pp, oblong 4to (11 3/8" H x 14 1/2" D). Pictorial endpapers, profusely illlustrated throughout in b&w and colour. "This is the first time a book has been produced featuring a comprehensive selection of Taylor's work and it is thus a publication of great significance. Those already familiar with his work will be intrigued to discover for the first time the secrets of his techniques, and all combat aviation buffs will delight in the behind-the-scenes stories of life with the 'Aces'. In researching his paintings, Robert Taylor has worked with some of the greatest aviators in the world and the text draws upon his encyclopedic fund of facts and anecdotes concerning these famous figures and their service careers. In addition to this, a number of these great pilots have contributed their own first-hand accounts of the aircraft they flew in combat and other personal recollections. (F)eatures in-depth visual and verbal studies of many of Taylor's most outstanding paintings, along with a wealth of colour details, pencil sketches and photographs. Much of this visual information has never been published before." Small bump to the bottom corner of the textblock, very small pencil erasure mark on front free endpaper, very small bump to the bottom corner of the boards, light bump at top/bottom of the spine - with 1" closed tear at top of the rear hinge, minor rubbing to boards and edges, very slight lean to the spine. Dust jacket has light edge wrinkling, light rubbing - more on the rear panel, a few faint line indentations.. First Canadian Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good-/Very Good. Illus. by Robert Taylor..
