About the author

Jane Werner (1927-2002) edited the first 12 Little Golden Books that launched in 1942, one of which was The Poky Little Puppy, the bestselling picture book of all time. She went on to write and edit scores of Golden Books, including the bestselling My Little Golden Book About God.

Retta Scott Worcester (1916-1990) was an American artist and the first woman to receive a screen credit as an animator at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Throughout her career, she worked on the films Bambi, Fantasia, and Dumbo, among others. She also illustrated many children's books, such as Cinderella.
