Hardcover in decorated vioet paper covered boards over deep blue cloth spine. xvi+ 605 pp. Near fine with some foxing to the outer half of the top edge of the text block, in very good dust jacket, sunned at the spine and with a very short closed tear front panel and also slong the top inner rear panel. Presneted here for the first time in one volume in any language is the comprehensive collection of the short stories by the novelist known worldwide as Colette. The one hundred stories in this collection date from 1908 to 1945 and range from a thousand-word fable to a twenty-thousand worrd novella. Many of the classic stories appear here in English for the first time. The setings move from Paris to the Brittany coast, Mediterranean gardens to theater dressing rooms, disreputable yet wholesome bars to the fresh, sane countryside of the author's native Burgundy.
