Sewing sturdy, edges gently rubbed, minor creases to first few leaves, foxed throughout: Very Good. Ruffin was a Virginia plantation owner and senator who performed early research on soil, demonstrating the importance of using marl (calcareous earth) to rejuvenate earth exhausted by monoculture.
