David Hunter changed the course of the Civil War by targeting civilians and their property, their towns, their schools, and their businesses. Jefferson Davis branded Hunter a criminal and put a price on his head. There is a small "#568" in ink on the upper corner of the front end paper, else this is a nice clean, tight and unmarked book with no interior or exterior markings. The dust jacket has a few light scratches, else it is in similarly nice condition with no chips, tears, or creasing. Original gray covers with gilt spine and cover lettering. Retitled from: "Yankee Soldiers in Virginia Valleys: Hunters Raid."; B&W Illustrations, Photos, Maps; 8vo, 8"- 9" tall; 460 pages; Signed by Author .
