Edinburgh: William Blackwood and Sons, 1849. First Edition . Hardcover. Good. Hardback. A good copy in a half leather binding with marbled boards. Spine lettered in gilt and with five raised bands. Boards fairly worn with one inch tear in leather at join of spine and upper board. No ownership inscription. 282 pages. The Lays relate to episodes of Scottish history and each is preceded by an essay or note on the historical episode concerned.
