A rough copy with covers, endpapers and several preliminary blanks detached. Full sheep, probably early nineteenth century, with some gilt stamping, all edges tinted red, [4], 311 pages. Covers rubbed with much surface chipping from dryness (now stabilized), both covers detached but present, text block sound, pages very good with some minor age-toning, margin dampstains to final two leaves, otherwise clean and unmarked.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fair. 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall.

[4] + 32 + 34 + 31 + 30 + 32 + 29 + 62 (mispaginated) + 27 pp. + 7 engraved plates, including frontispiece portrait of Hugo. 8vo., quarter brown morocco with raised bands, gilt rules and ornaments, a.e.g., brown pebbled cloth boards stamped in blind. Tops of boards sunned, spine worn. Moire endpapers have light soil. Ink ownership dated 1868 on blank preceding half title. Light to moderate foxing in the text, plates clean. Plates by Boulanger depict scenes from the plays. Inlcudes: Hernani, Marion de Lorme, Le Roi s'Amuse, Lucrece Borgia, Marie Tudor, Angelo, Ruy Blas, and Les Burgraves. Perhaps the first collection of Hugo's plays, the BNF locates only one copy. (Not in OCLC.) Scarce. Very good overall.

Extremities and fore-tips a bit worn, some surface scarring and small nicks to lower board, large bookplate on front pastedown, a few minor marginal smudges, otherwise a very good copy, the text bright, crisp and fresh. Denoted a New Edition, considerably augmented. The fine engraved frontis is by Choffard after Monciau. Delille's most popular work of original poetry, first published in a preliminary form in 1782. The author's notes for the poem occupy the last forty pages of the text. Delille was an accomplished translator, notably of Virgil and Milton. In three volumes, #139/478 copies on Hollande, portrait frontispiece of Rabelais, Much of this work has been taken from original manuscripts housed in the National Library. A fine set, handsomely bound by V. Champs in 3/4 red morocco over marbled paper covered boards with matching endpapers, raised bands, spine lettering and top edges gilt, original printed green wrappers bound in. A superb set.

Limited to 100 copies (106-205) This copy is number 119, two vignette title pages in red, black and brown, two printed half-titles and one engraved vignette half-title, printed on vellin paper from the Marsh Mills, watermarked "KTHMA EIE AEL" illustrations by A. Gerardin, with an extra suite of 70 gravures on hand-made Japon or Chine paper engraved by Julien Tinayre bound in at rear with an engraved vignette half-title. Handsomely bound by V. Champs in ¾ tan morocco over marbled paper covered boards, marbled endpapers, spine decorated in blind, lettering and top edge gilt, very tiny chip to head, one corner worn through, two small spots to spine. A very nice bright copy without foxing, names, or bookplates.

Amsterdam: Henry Desbordes, 1690 A good copy of an extremely scarce work by de Rosemond, 'tiree des Auteurs Anglois'. 2 parts bound in one with separate title pages. The full leather binding is contemporary, with raised bands and the remains of gilt tooling to the spine. It is worn and there is a piece of leather missing from the spine, but it is sound.
