About the author

Passionate about both photography and nature, Thomas Marent bought his first camera at the age of 16. He first set foot in a rainforest in 1990, in Australia, and has since explored rainforests all over the world, from Indonesia and Rwanda to Argentina and Brazil. His photographs have been published in numerous magazines, books, and calendars. In addition to photography, Marent works as a biologist in Switzerland during the summers, monitoring butterflies, grasshoppers, dragonflies, amphibians and birds. His first book was Rainforest (DK Publishing), which has been translated into15 languages, followed by Butterfly, Frog, and Life in the Wild (all DK).
