Imitation cloth, dj, VG/G+. 212pp, colour frontis, 20pp b/w plates showing 42 images, 16 text figs, 11 maps, index, fore edges foxed, dustjacket somewhat rubbed & worn along the edges, a good reading copy. The story of the Basingstoke Canal which ran from the Wey Navigation 37.25 miles to Basingstoke. Originally envisaged as the start of a much longer canal to connect the Thames to the south coast the canal was never a commercial sucess & remained a backwater.

A fine book will look almost like the day it was bought, a VG one will have some evidence of prior ownership, G means a nice clean copy, obviously secondhand & P implies a COMPLETE copy that has suffered a hard life & will need some TLC. We take into account the books age when grading, so a 250 year old book graded as VG will look more second hand that a 5 year old book graded the same. On the Net since 1998. All prices are in GBP.
