Brown cloth binding. xliv+258, 15 plate ills on 5 leaves ex-pagination, numerous un-numbered text ills throughout, mostly head and tail-pieces of Bewick's engravings.No obvious faults bar faint race of dustiness to top edge. Unclipped jacket clean but rubbing to joints and fore-edges and slight fading to spine region and top back edge. First edition was 1862, over 3 decades after Bewick's death,16 cm x 24 cm
