About This Item

Los Angeles: Silman-James Press, in cooperation with the Directors Guild of America. Near Fine. (c.1995). First Edition. Softcover. [the teensiest bit of handling wear, very slight curling to corners of front cover]. Trade PB (B&W photographs) INSCRIBED and SIGNED by Robert Wise on the half-title page: "To: Dick / with many thanks for your / kind words on the back cover / Bob Wise." ("Dick" was Wise's fellow director Richard Fleischer, a nice professional association.) A detailed study of the work of the producer-director of THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, WEST SIDE STORY, THE HAUNTING, THE SOUND OF MUSIC and many other film classics, and also the closest thing we'll ever have to a memoir, as it draws extensively on a lengthy series of interviews and conversations with Wise about his films. In addition to the film-by-film commentary, there's also an excellent biographical overview of his life and career. Signed by Biographee .
