A subscription only set consisting of 6 titles in 12 volumes, printed by George Barrie & Son, London. This set is number 102 of 1,000 sets printed. Text is printed on Japanese vellum from the textual plates made by The Lutetian Society of London. Each book is bound in leather, gilt stamping on front and back boards, spines are gilt stamped and have 5 raised bands. Gilt tops, other edges rough cut. 144 etched plates with tissue guards which have printed captions. Inside front and back boards are covered in gilt stamped leather, facing endpapers are silk. Titles are: Germinal, 2 volumes, translated into English by Havelock Ellis. L'Assommoir, 2 volumes, translated into English by Arthur Symons. La Curée, 2 volumes, translated into English by A. Teixeira De Mattos. La Terre, 2 volumes, translated into English by Ernest Dowson. Nana, 2 volumes, translated into English by Victor Plarr. Pot-Bouille, 2 volumes, translated into English by Percy Pinkerton. Overall this set is in good condition with some rubbing on the covers along with bumped edges.
