About This Item
[4], 358 pp.First and only edition of a work on Siam by the French military officer and explorer Étienne Lunet de La Jonquière (born 1861). He was charged with an archeological mission to the Menam and Mekong rivers, and while he stayed there he took the opportunity to study the people. He was especially interested in the influence of the Western world on the lives of the natives. The text leaves are in very good condition, but the glue on the spine of the wrapper is loosing its adhesive properties, resulting in some loose quires and leaves. Wrappers slightly soiled and a bit damaged.l Cordier, Indosinica, col. 745.
