The first edition of this beautifully illustrated adapted version of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale. The very scarce true first edition of this adapted version. In the original unclipped dust wrapper.Beautifully illustrated throughout by Errol Le Cain (1941-1989) who was a British animator as well as children's book illustrator. In 1984 he won a prestigious Kate Greenaway Medal. A translated and adapted edition of the short Danish fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen. The story follows a young girl's journey to find her friend, who has been lured away by a Snow Queen. From Naomi Lewis (1911-2009), a British poet, essayist and reteller of stories for children. She was most noted for her translations of Hans Christian Andersen's works. In the original illustrative boards. In the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart with slight bumping to the extremities and the odd spot to the boards. Dust wrapper has minimal edgewear and a few spots to the flyleaves. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
