Thomas Erskine, 1st Lord Erskine (1750-1823) was "probably the greatest advocate who ever practised at the English Bar...". He was an eloquent orator and a brilliant cross-examiner, whose liberal opinions prevented his advancement. (OCL p.429) The editor of this edition has included a memoir, & has prefaced each speech with the facts in the case or in some instances the pleadings & testimony. Multi-volume set requiring additional shipping charges. .
