Excess postage required due to weight; Large 4to hardback; olive green cloth with gold gilt illustration to cover and lettering to upper panel; also gold gilt lettering to spine; wear to cover corners; no handwriting inside such as names; nice clean copy throughout.1st tissue guard has a small piece torn off and some browning; a plethora of illustrations throughout in cream and black; the stories and illustrations in the book originally appeared in 'Little folks' between 1896 - 1902; the publishers felt that some of the drawings deserved a longer life and better presentation than in a magezine, and asked Arthur Rackham to collect them for this book. The result is quite magical. Gold embossed decoration and titles very clear and vibrant. Fore edges and prelims tanned and with a little foxing. Previous owner's signature.

Black and white frontispiece tinted light blue, 12 full page and 24 text illustrations all with tinted backgrounds, title page and prelim pages printed red and black. Head and tail of spine just very slightly worn with minute nicks to cloth, hinges and corners slightly rubbed, couple of very minor small pale stains to covers, faintest foxing to prelims, some inner joints cracked, binding tight and sound, occasional very slight foxing to upper margins, contents very nice. A very good copy, no inscriptions. 3 stories by A.E. Bonser, 1 by B. Sidney Woolf, 1 by E.S. Buchheim which all first appeared in Little Folks from 1896 to 1902 (Prefatory Note by Rackham). Original brown cloth stamped in dark brown, some slight soiling to covers, corners bumped, a good copy in the second issue binding. § First book edition of this collection of stories by A. E. Bonser, B. Sidney Woolf and E. S. Buchheim, illustrated by Rackham, which originally appeared in “Little Folks” from 1896-1902. With a prefatory note by the artist.

Tinted frontispiece plus 12 full-page and numerous smaller b&w illustrations all printed on yellow backgrounds. Spine ends worn, corners rubbed, edges lightly so, spine sunned, boards slightly warped, else an internally clean, tight copy.
First edition in the first state binding, having the cover title and illustration stamped in gold. Five stories all illustrated by Rackham that had previously appeared in the "Little Folks" magazine between 1896 and 1902. These wonderful fantasy tales from the turn of the 20th century serve as perfect vehicles for Rackham's detailed, fanciful line work. Though both Rackham bibliographies refer to the frontispiece as tinted, to us it appears to have been printed in three colors, having a light blue and light tan in addition to the black line work.

Profusely illustrated with 35 two tone drawings by Arthur Rackham working from the stories provided herein by Bonser, Buchheim & Woolf.
