Bold chromolithograph caricature portrait of President Garfield, titled "From the Tow Path to the White House", depicting the bearded president wearing a dress jacket, hands thrust into pockets. Puck Magazine portrait, Supplement to No. 201. Signed in the print, J. Keppler. 9 1/2 x 12 1/2".
Accompanied by a cabinet card albumen photographic portrait of the future president made by W. J. Baker in Buffalo, New York in 1880; "Gen'l J. A. Garfield" is printed on the mount, with the photographer's imprint below. 1/4 x 5 3/4".
