All the Sad Young Men was published a year after Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, but interestingly, it includes a pseudo prequel to the iconic novel. In the story "Absolution," Fitzgerald provides a unique glimpse into Jay Gatsby's childhood as James Gatz.
