Pictorial 30-page folio-size booklet about the 1927-1930 Byrd expedition. Edition not stated. Tide Water's Veedol oil is prominently featured! Written with a certain amount of humor. Los Angeles: Society for the Diffusion of Useful Information, 2002. Fine. Immaculate, without dust jacket as issued. 120 pages. Absolutely fascinating. A tongue-in-cheek presentation of the holdings of this museum, akin to "the private museums of yore," (per Smithsonian magazine). Representative of the "holdings" is the very first object presented: the "horn of Mary Davis of Saughall," a five-inch horn growing out of the back of a woman's head (presumably Mary's), dating from the seventeenth century, and--sadly--"no longer suviving," per a footnote. The museum does exist and is open to the public: this book is an enjoyable introduction. I had a great problem trying to assign this book to a "catalog" because it doesn't really fit anywhere.
