Very good condition throughout with some very minor rubbing and toning to the edges but still all clean and sound. The set has been very well looked after. Started by Vale with $100 from Lawrence Ferlinghetti and the same amount from Allen Ginsberg, Search & Destroy was a hugely influential recorder of the early Punk scene in America, while also reporting on and interviewing the bands making a name for themselves on the British scene, including Iggy Pop, Blondie, Dead Kennedys, X, Devo, The Ramones, Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Damned, Sham 69, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Buzzcocks and an article on Vivienne Westwood. Complete sets of the original publications are uncommon.

With original pen and ink artwork from the First Edition and reproduced in this edition, on stiff white card, for vignette on page 16 of volume one, initialled under the drawing and with pencilled measurement for the image in the original 1904 edition and the words "Copyright Reserved" written on the bottom of the card. ---------- The books are Illustrated with 2 half tone frontispieces, 98 full page mono plates plus 138 smaller vignettes and grotesque heads throughout the text. Illustrated with a total of 102 fine full page Chromolithograhic plates; Half title, title page, 99 numbered plates - each with a tissue paper guard, and the colophon leaf. 104 pp of text, printed in black within decorative red borders. A fine copy in a beautiful designer binding by The Ashley Bindery, of Somerset. Stamped to the rear inner board- 19 AB 81. Full black morocco with multi colour design of two boxed lines in brown morocco across both boards and the spine, with tan, green and red design within each box. The spine is also lettered in gilt. Wood effect endpapers. All edges gilt. Housed in a felt lines chemise with the same wood effect paper on the boards and a black morocco spine, lettered in gilt and with one of the red designs onlaid between the title and authors. R. Ackermann. London. 1813 (Circa 1870?). PORTFOLIO OF 13 PLATES. No text, as issued. (Paper size 14.9 x 11.3 inches. The portfolio is 15.5 x 12 inches). Portrait of Blake, by T. Phillips, RA; Engraved title page (dated 1808) and 11 plates, all stating Ackermann as publisher, dated 1813 and engraved by Louis Schiavonetti, after Blake's designs. The pages have a little bumping to the edges but well away form the engraved area. Plates a little dusty and toned but the impressions are good. The original portfolio is brown Morocco grained cloth with elaborate blind tooled designs to both boards. Gilt lettering to the front board. Only one small piece of one silk tie remaining. Yellow coated endpapers. 3 small clippings from bookseller catalogues, each listing copies of the Blair/Blake book, tipped in to the front pastedown endpaper. Lion and Unicorn Press. London. 1964. LIMITED EDITION. Folio. (13.7 x 9.8 inches). One of only 400 copies, this number 368. Inscribed by Colin Hayes on the half title page and with a catalogue of his exhibition at the Royal Academy in 2000, plus the order of service from his funeral at Mortlake Crematorium in 2003. Illustrated with 60 fine full page plates. Very good copy in publishers illustrated grey cloth covered boards reproducing pencil drawings by Spencer. White cloth spine lettered in grey. A little rubbing to the extremities of the binding and a single previous owner name on the front pastedown endpaper, but overall a very good copy of this interesting book reproducing sixty drawings produced by Spencer between 1939 and 1949 and housed in four large sketchbooks, larger than reproduced here. The original scrapbook pages measured 16 x 10.9 inches.
