Printed by the Society of Bibliophiles in London, this seven volume set features "The Facetious Nights of Straparola" by Giovanni Francesco Straparola and 'Il Pecorone' by Giovanni Fiorentino. Both of these works are notable for being written in the style of the famed work 'Decameron' by Giovanni Boccaccio.

Navy cloth spine, light gray-blue paper-covered boards. Near fine in price-clipped, fine dust jacket. The author's first book. Franzen grew up in Webster Groves, a suburb of St. Louis. This book was published in September of 1988.

A narrow strip of browning to the free endpapers and a touch of soiling to the pastedowns. Fuchs has lovingly inscribed this copy to Susan Foster, a long-time personal assistant to film and literary mega-agent Irving Paul Lazar, and later Frank Sinatra. The nature of Fuchs and Foster's acquaintance is unknown, though it seems safe to assume that they might have met during Fuchs' long tenure as a Hollywood scriptwriter.
