The Passionate Pirate is one of Henry Morris's earlier titles. In making it, he was plagued with both papermaking and printing problems, since he had recently acquired a new papermaking beater and a new printing press. The first bindings on the books were disastrous, and the entire edition had to be rebound. This copy is inscribed by Morris "For my good friend Remy Green" and dated 11/15/64. Remy John Barcham Green worked for, and later ran, J. Barcham Green Ltd., which operated the Hayle Mill in Kent, England. Morris was in frequent contact with Remy and his father Jack (John Barcham Green II) when he first began his papermaking journey in the 1950s. Some (water)staining but still a good clean copy bound in nineteenth century 3/4 red morocco & red buckram boards. Edges stained red.Second, last and best edition of this collection of engravings of medals commemorating the real and imagined triumphs of Louis XV's reign.

Boston, 1871. Single leaf, folded to [4]pp, bifolium. Each page 5" x 8-1/8." The two leaves separating along the spine. Sumner's signature at the end has an ink smudge partially affecting the "C" in his first name. Because Sumner's handwriting was terrible, we have made a couple of leaps of faith in our translation. Very Good. Sumner [1811-1874] would die in office as a leading Republican Senator devoted to equal rights for Blacks, and to preventing the former Rebels from reversing the results of the War. Thus Sumner sought to diminish their political influence by delaying the return of the Rebel States to full participation in the polity. Writing from his Boston home, he seeks information related to his Reconstruction policies. His note reads, in full: "Please send me " [1] Mr. Harlan's Bill of Dec. NY: Random House, 1950. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good -. First edition of William Inge's first play. SiGNED by the entire cast led by Shirley Booth who received the Tony Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of Lola, for which she later received the Oscar in the film version. Only one cast member didn't sign - actor Wilson Brooks: perhaps this is his copy. There are a few pencilled notations in the text. Laid-in is a TNS from playwright Inge rejecting a colleague's request to produce one of his plays. Also laid-in are 7 typed sheets which contain lists of props, scene by scene, annotated in pencil detailing use of props, positioning, etc. Book VG, spine slightly shaken, spine ends worn. Almost very good dw, some tape ghosts on flap.

Absolutely charming, often whimsical, playful, cute and/or amusing, collection of fan designs, many featuring children and with slightly naive artwork befitting the illustrations of a colorful children's book. N.d., circa 1930s, based on the fashions and one Olympic-themed design, as well as the few with a jingoistic tenor -- this was the period of rising Japanese expansionism. Slightly oblong or squarish, 23.5 by 25 cm. One text page, followed by 139 color plates, each with a fan design. 34 of the plates are brightly colored whimsical illustrations such as one might find in a children's book and of strong juvenile appeal, even when the subject matter doesn't include children.
