Rare second issue of this important little magazine from underground press editor John Bryan. A fascinating juncture between the Beat Generation and the nascent hippie movement. Includes Beat writers, proto-psychedelicists (including a Psychedelic Cookbook section), and Charles Bukowski. Original fabric tape to spine. Unmarked copy, a bit of outer rubbing and toning, faint storage smell.

The rare third issue of this pioneering journal of marijuana reform, edited by Mike Aldrich and Ed Sanders. Includes a cover photo of Tim Leary, other interesting content. A rare early issue of this seminal 1960s little magazine, entirely devoted to work by John Wieners. An unmarked copy (aside from stray doodle to front leaf), folder shadowing to front leaf (which has edge folds), a little marginal staining. (First two leaves are most worn.)

First edition, with publisher's review slip tipped-in at the front. x,69 pp. Slim octavo, black cloth, gilt lettering at spine. A near fine copy; faint foxing to endpapers, and few spots of marginal soiling, else clean and crisp. In a dust jacket which is heavily foxed, being more apparent on the thin strip of white at the fold-in of the upper panel and on the white lower panel, shows light edgewear, and has a closed tear at the lower fold-in. Lowell's second book, containing "The Quaker Garveyard in Nantucket," it was greeted with critical acclaimn.

Five spine compartments between raised bands with "Ariosto" in the second compartment and the volume number in the fourth. All page edges speckled red. Marbled endpapers matching that on the boards. Frontispiece engraving is signed: "Geoffroy sc." The fourth volume includes additional short poems by the author. Text is entirely in Italian. In Very Good- Condition: bindings archivally repaired; covers are lightly rubbed, with some loss of leather at spine ends; the frontispiece engraving has left a shadow on the title page of vol. 1; frontispiece and facing title page, as well as parts of vol. 3 also lightly foxed; otherwise pages are clean and tight.

In Good- Condition: lacking frontispiece portrait; spine is very worn; joints are split, but stitching is solid; lacking leather spine label; faint remains of gilt tooling on spine; very occasional foxing; otherwise pages are clean and bright.
