Includes chapters on exterior painting, interior decoration, colours, graining & marbling, paint-mixing, painting iron-work, coach & carriage painting, lettering, plastering, properties of oil paints, varnishes & polishes, gilding & bronzing, lacquering japanning & enamelling, dyeing & staining, painting on glass, "Diaphanie and Potichomanie" (imitation stained glass & découpage to imitate painted porcelain), leather-work, colour harmony. Recently rebound with original chipped & tanned front cover laid down; as pictured. Light wear, first & last ad pages foxed from original wrappers; page edges a bit grubby. Wonderfully graphic magazine with tons of advertisements, articles about notable ad campaigns, notice on industry regulations, etc. A true tradesman's journal, it gives updates on community events, including deaths and accidents, and has great classifieds "Opportunity Exchange" and "Ready Reference Directory." Softcover quarto, 11.75 x 8.75 inches, 98pp. In Fair to Good condition with a 1 x 2-inch loss at the edge of the cover, which has a piece of tinted Japanese paper lightly tacked around it to prevent further damage, but can be easily removed. Modest soil to exterior and general handling wear, large abrasion to rear wrap, but contents are complete and relatively bright. Feature material on the Sign Contractor's Convention in Indianapolis and several lettering pieces highlights "Art and Design Section." Article on color contributed by Frank Atkinson.
