About This Item
Redwood City, CA: Johnson Meyers, 1964. First Edition. First edition. Two volumes bound in tan cloth with maroon lettering, housed in original slipcase. Very Good with a few small stains to cloth, gift inscription on Walter Keane's volume not in his hand, in Very Good+ dust jackets, worn at heads, creasing along top of MDH volume's front panel. Slipcase in Fair condition, lacking spine, a few tape repairs. Lacking glassine jacket-protectors. Illustrations also have inserted glassine protective leaves.
An excellent, uncommon set showcasing Margaret Keane's iconic big-eyed waif art, unfairly credited at the time to her husband, Walter. Her life and plagiarism case formed the basis of the 2014 Tim Burton film Big Eyes.
