Massachusetts Department of Educationq, 1937. 8vo size blue clothbound (looks like silk) hardcover with bright gilt titles on front cover; 202 pages with some black and white illustrations. Horace Mann (1796 - 1859) was an American educator, educational reformer and later politician. He advocated and reformed Common (public) Schools and Normal Schools and his reforms were adopted nationwide. Contents include:. Proclamation Legislative Act Creating the Massachusetts Board of Education Letter of Acceptance of Secretaryship Biography Quotations Suggestive Ways for Observances to be Adapted for Common Schools, High Schools, Teachers Colleges, and Citizen Groups Pageants Radio Programs Outline of the Life of Horace Mann Edgewear, bumped head and heel of spine.
