Exhibition catalog for "Life in Philadelphia" oil painting exhibit at Philadelphia Museum of Art, 1940. Scarce copy in Good+ overall condition with tight binding, fairly bright covers and unmarked text. The bulletin celebrated the opening of the art exhibit "Life in Philadelphia," which was the inaugural exhibit at the Oriental Wing of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1940. Contains numerous black and white reproduction of the art work at the exhibit, with a catalogue of oil paintings. Also includes a Forward by Henry Clifford, "A Note on the Iconography of Philadelphia" by Boies Penrose, and a preface to an unfinished novel by Owen Wister, author of The Virginian. In addition, this copy contains a laid-in list of publications of the City History Society of Philadelphia--probably also from 1940, and a typed/copied memorial to a Mr. Harry A. Palmer from his service at the Arch Street Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia; both pieces in Very Good condition. The catalog itself is in Good+ condition.…
