A legendary figure not only in his own fields of critical theory, comparative literature, and film studies but across all the humanities, Macksey possessed enormous intellectual capacity and a deeply insightful human nature. He was a man who read and wrote in six languages, was instrumental in launching a new era in structuralist thought in America, maintained a personal library containing a staggering collection of books and manuscripts, inspired generations of students to follow him to the thorniest heights of the human intellect, and penned or edited dozens of volumes of scholarly works, fiction, poetry, and translation."…

The work is rife with mistakes that stem both from her lack of understanding when it comes to interpreting Nietzsches complex system of thought and also her natural tendency to lie and exaggerate. Here as well as elsewhere, she distorted his life and characterization to suit her own thoughts, despite her brothers contrary opinions. Elisabeth was a rabid anti-Semite, a pioneer in Nazism, and an avid supporter of Aryanism, even gifting Nietzsches walking stick to Adolf Hitler. CONDITION: Very good to near fine in contemporary half-leather with marbled boards. Gilt lettering to spines. Dark green endpapers. Pages bright and clean. Lacking advertisements.
