Description:
Ancient world 925 Most ancient verse. Selected and translated by Thorkild Jacobsen and John A. Wilson. With an introduction by David Grene. Chicago: The Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago, 1963, xii, 57p. Tallish book bound in an attractive burlap like cloth with some spotting. (I thought at first that the spotting was meant to give an oatmeal effect to the binding, not unattractive). These poems, which have never appeared in English before, date back to the Sumerian and ancient Egyptian times. Some go back to 2300 BC. Interesting. $10.00
