The dust jacket has chips and wear along the upper edges with a large chuck of 3 inches by 1 inch missing from the upper rear corner of the dust jacket.

Signed and inscribed by the author to Major J. P. Westerfield at San Francisco, 1945. Below the inscription Westerfield has printed "Dinner at the Van Sicklin's / 5 Sept. 1945. Westerfield's signature also appears on the frontispiece verso and the title page. The cloth shows mild edgewear with faint fraying at the head and heel of the spine. The jacket, now in mylar, is edgeworn and torn, with chips at the corners and top edge of the front panel; it also lacks the top 1/3 of the spine. Hinges solid; text clean and unmarked. An interesting association copy. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall

Ex- Nebraska State Historical Society copy, with the remnant of their tipped-in bookplate to the front pastedown and a withdrawn stamp to the second blank. The book has a 1/8" puncture in the cloth near the top of the front cover (not through to the endpaper) and a touch of wear at the extremites. There are no external library markings.
