About This Item

New York: Viking Penguin, 1995. Hardcover. Very Good/Near Fine. The third novel in Ross' award-winning historical mystery series featuring Regency-era, English dandy, Julian Kestrel, whose rapier-sharp mind belies his reputation as a Beau Brummel. This time Kestrel investigates the bludgeoning murder of a man who had it all: youth, charm, talent and money. First edition, first printing (as stated, with complete number line). About 5 1/2 x 9 3/4 inches, 382 pages in tan paper-covered boards with black backstrip and gold lettering on spine. Front panel of dustjacket shows illustration featuring a man's bloody hand and a blood-stained poker Back panel contains blurbs praising the first two of Ross' mysteries. Boards and text show a slight spine lean and bottom edge of text is marked: "X 1/15." No other noticeable flaws or damage. Complete, clean and o/w unmarked. Not ex-library. No chipping, tearing or bumped corners. Dustjacket shows only minimal surface and edge wear. No tearing or creasing. Not price-clipped. Since her death at 42, first edition copies of her works have become increasingly scarce.
