The hardcover edition of Bernie Rhodenbarr's (NYC burglar and bookshop owner) first caper, originally issued in paperback in 1977. In this one, Bernie is working on order, breakingf into a posh NYC East Side apartment, grabbing a leather-covered box and delivering it to the guy who ordered it. An easy payday. Except the leather-covered box isn't there and a dead body is. Includes an afterword by Block. Boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square, not remaindered. The dustjacket shows a touch of edge wear along the top edge, o/w no tears, no creasing or chipping, not price-clipped. Collectable.
Synopsis
Lawrence Block is a four-time winner of the Edgar Award and was named a Grand Master by the Mystery Writers of America. He has also won four Shamus Awards, and was the first recipient of the Nero Wolfe Award. He is the author of over 40 books, many of which feature the characters Bernie Rhodenbarr, Matthew Scudder, Chip Harrison, and Evan Tanner. He lives in New York City with his wife Lynne.
