The third and last of Skom's highly praised trio of bibliomysteries featuring Professor Beth Austin, who is leading a class through the works of Charles Dickens at Midwestern University when a woman is murdered in a hospital bed in New York City. When Austin learns her mother's life was changed by a similar murder when her mother was a college student a generation ago, she realizes there is a need to investigate the past before a present day murderer catches up with her. First Printing, First Edition (with complete numberline). Signed by Skom on the title page and signed again with an inscription to Skom's agent on the fep. About 5 3/4 x 8 1/2 inches, 295 pages in boards quarter bound in red cloth over cream-colored paper with gold lettering on spine. Boards and text are clean, complete and unmarked, no bumped corners or spine ends, not remaindered. Pictorial dustjacket shows some mild rubbing on both panels, o/w no surface or edge wear, no tears, creasing or chipping, not price-clipped. A collectable copy of the final book by this Northwestern University professor who died a few years ago.
