About This Item
New York: Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1976. Exhibition Catalogue. Good Plus to Very Good. The exhibition catalogue issued for the 1976 exhibition of drawing and painting by Andrew Wyeth at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The art, created by Wyeth at Chadds Ford, PA, and Olsons Farm, Cushing, ME, ranges from childhood images of toy soldiers to landscapes and portraits completed in the 1970s. The catalogue's text is comprised of five days of interviews of Wyeth on a broad range of subjects from the history of his work in both locations but also on his early training, development, techniques and philosophy. About 8 1/2 x 11 inches, 192 pages with over 300 illustrations, in color and b&w, many not included in the exhibition itself. Bound in heavy card with glossy reproductions of Wyeth's work on both covers. First edition, first printing. Previous owner's bookplate on inside front cover, o/w clean, complete and unmarked. Back cover shows single diagonal crease running from top edge to mid-foredge; aside from light soiling on text edges, no other noticeable flaws or damage. Certainly worth a look from anyone interested in Wyeth's work.
