About This Item

Pleasantville, NY: Readers Digest Association, 2005. Book Club Edition 1st Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Issued Without Jacket. This is the first novel in George's long-running mystery series featuring Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley and Sgt. Barbara Havers. It made an impressive entrance into the genre, winning the 1988 Agatha Award and the 1989 Anthony Award, especially impressive for an American author writing a novel with a British setting. This copy, issued in 2005, is from the Reader's Digest Association's ImPress Mystery book club. About 5 3/4 x 8 1/2 inches, 324 pages in green paper-covered boards. The front cover is decorated with an abstract graphic design with a vaguely religious motif. Design and title and author are centered within a black border. Lettering is in gold on the spine as well as front cover. This copy has a couple of minor faults: Three or four tiny stains on text's upper edge and a tiny crease in the upper corner of page 169-170. O/w boards and text show only mnior bumping at spine ends. No tears or bumped corners. Clean, complete and unmarked. A very good rreading/study copy.
