About This Item
New York: Sterling Publishing Co.. The Luger is one of perhaps a half-dozen firearms that became legends during 20th century warfare. one of only 2 or 3 handguns to attain that status. Walter's encyclopedia is just that. In addition to tracing the Luger's history, the book also contains an extensive, 1200-entry A-Z directory of manufacturers, distributors, ammunition, leatherware, proof & inspection data and unit markings. Also included are author's preface, a bibliography, a glossary, a section on nomenclature and hundreds of photos, schematics and drawings. Originally published in 1986 by Arms and Armour Press, London, 1986, This copy is from Sterling Publishing Co. NY, a first U.S. edition, first printing thus, with complete numberline. About 8 3/4 x 11 inches, 287 pages in red paper-covered boards with gold lettering on spine. This copy is in well-used but very good condition. Boards are slightly bumped and worn at the spine ends. Binding is firm and tight. One page (87-88) has a dogearred corner, o/w text is clean, complete and unmarked. The front panel of the dustjacket shows an 08 Luger against a dark background with title and author at top of panel. The back panel shows a presentation Luger and a list of the book's contents. The dj's edges are ragged and tattered with numerous creases and small tears. The graphics and design elements are only very minimally damaged however. The dj is now in a Brodart protector. This copy is no longer a collector's copy but has many years to offer to historians and others interested in the hundred-year story of a legendary handgun. [Due to its size and weight, priority/express orders or orders from outside the U.S. will require additional postage.]. . Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1991.
