About This Item
New York: Bantam Books, 1946. First Edition. . Mass Market Paperback. Good Plus. Vintage Paperback. Bantam 42:The tenth novel by Brown using the pseudonymn, Leslie Ford. Set just before World War II in Charleston, SC, which is seen and described for the reader by Diane Baker, a "friend" of Phyllis Lattimore, a beautiful and aggresively ambitious woman whose social intrigues create a dangerous situation leading to murder. A bit politically incorrect these days, Ford is still a first rate writer and a master of mystery and suspense. First Printing, First Paperback Edition. Pictorial wrappers shows moderate wear at the edges and corners with light creasing and some laminate peeling. No tears or chipping. Previous owner's last name in pencil on fep, and text is slightly age-tanned with a very slight spine lean, o/w clean, unmarked, complete with a tight binding. A decent, certainly readable copy.
