A late historical mystery by this mid-20th century American Grand Master, "Casa Madrone" is set in New York and later in San Francisco at the time of the 1906 earthquake, which reavaged the city. The book features Mallory Bookever, a debutante about to wed a wealthy San Franciscan, when, in the midst of the quake-caused chaos, she discovers a death that might be murder and is involved in a near fatal accident herself. Signed and inscribed on the front pastedown by Eberhart. Front cover has small dent in lower edge; lower corners lightly bumped as is top of spine, o/w boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight, with a slight spine lean. Collectable.
