About This Item
New York: Berkley Books, 1986. First Edition Thus. . Mass Market Paperback. Very Good. Subtitled "A Comedy of Manners," this late career bestseller features Dr. Richard Ames, an ex-military man turned writer, who becomes the victim of mistaken identity when a stranger trying to deliver a message is shot dead at Ames' table in a restaurant. Ames finds himself thrown headlong into danger and intrigue where a plot to rescue the sentient computer called Mike could change the direction of human history. First Printing, First Paperback Edition. About 4 x 7 inches, 388 pages in pictorial wrappers with cover art by Michael Whelan. Wrappers show only very minor surface and edge wear, and very light reading creasing on spine. Text shows slight spine lean, and text edges show slight soiling and foxing with light age-tanning in page margins. No tears, no creased corners, no highlighting or other marking. A collectable copy.
