About This Item

Boston: Beacon Press, 1978. First Edition, First Printing. . Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. In 1972, the author was appointed by the Minneapolis Branch of the American Association of University Women to direct a two-year study on sexual behavior and the legal system. The study was followed in 1975-76 by a series of workshops and symposia bringing together sex offenders, victims, legislators, law enforcement officials and psychologists and resulted in Delin's book, in which she maintains that most sex offenders are not "born" deviants but learn their anti-social behavior through childhood experiences and, as adults, are capable of change. The book, replete with interviews of sex offenders, their wives, and the professionals who work with them, makes a number of recommendations to improve both the legal system and rehabilitation services. A single page (59-60) is creased, o/w text and boards are clean and unmarked, tight and square. The dustjacket's white back panel shows some rubbing and soiling, o/w only minimal surface and edgewear. Not price-clipped. Collectable.
