About This Item

New York: St. Martin's /Marek, 1985. Hardcover. Fine/Near Fine. In 1985, Kathy Keeton, publisher and founder of the magazines, "Viva," "Omni," and "Longevity," wrote "Woman of Tomorrow" with science writer and journalist, Yvonne Baskin. The book is an optimistic look at how science and technology will change nearly every aspect of woman's life in society and the workplace, at home and in the bedroom. Thirty-five years later, it is interesting and educational for the reader to compare Keeton's predictions with 21st century reality. First edition, first printing (as stated, with complete numberline). About 6 1/4 x 9 1/2 inches, 313 pages including appendices and index. Bound in white cloth-covered boards with blue backstrip and gold lettering on spine. The dustjacket's front panel shows author and title against a blue, star-filled background. The back panel contains head-and-shoulders, b & w photo of Keeton. Boards and text are clean, complete and unmarked without noticeable flaws or damage. The back panel of the dj has a partially removed sticker covering the barcode and shows no more than a trace of wear at the edges and spine ends. Dj is not price-clipped, has no creases or tears. A collectable copy. Keeton, partner and wife of Bob Guccione, publisher of "Penthouse." never had the opporunity to check her own predictions, dying in New York City in 1997 at age 58 of complications following surgery for an internal obstruction.
