About This Item

New York: Scribner/Simon & Schuster, 2003. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Cosmoopolis," the award-winning De Lillo's thirteenth novel, is the story of a symbolic odyssey undertaken by a very wealthy young man in a day-long journey across Manhattan. It features Eric Packer, a 28-year-old assets manager who sets out from his penthouse in his customized white stretch limo to pursue a cataclysmic bet against the yen and to get a haircut. He confronts traffic jams, violent political demostrations, deals with a variety of visitors and manages several sexual encounters on the way. The book was the basis for a 2012 Canadian movie starring Robert Pattinson. First edition, first printing (with complete numberline). About 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches, 209 pages bound in black paper-covered boards with gold lettering on spine. The dustjacket's front panel shows a photo of a white limo on a city street, the photo centered on a white background with title in grey and author's name in black. Lettering on spine is in white against a black background with back panel's photo same as front panel but smaller.
