About This Item

New York: St. Martin's Press, 2009. First Edition. . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. The 24th novel in Haddam's highly-praised mystery series featuring former FBI agent Gregor Demarkian finds him in a small Pennsylvania town investigating the savage beating of a 91-year-old school board member opposed to including "intelligent design" in the science curriculum. First Edition, First Printing. About 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches, 391 pages including acknowledgments in grey paper-covered boards with gold-stamped lettering on the spine. The dustjacket's front panel shows a winter night with snow falling on a lone woman walking down the center of a road with snow-covered cars parked bumper-to-bumper on both sides of the road. Back panel contains five "blurbs" praising previous novels in this series. A single small remainder dot on the bottom edge of the text, o/w text and boards are clean, complete and unmarked, tight and square. Dustjacket shows only a touch of wear along edges and spine ends, no tearing, creasing or chipping. Not price-clipped. A collectable copy of an intelligent whodunnit that really is a whodunnit, one that deals with an important social issue without resorting to sex and spies or blood and guns.
