About This Item
New York: Hyperion Books For Children, 2004. First Printing, First U.S. Edition. . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. Bob Lea. This first book of Stone's three-volume, "The Illmoor Chronicles," was a major success when published in England. It features Diek Wustapha, a normal shepherd boy under an evil spell who offers to free the ancient city of Dullitch from a plague of giant rats until the Duke of Dullitch reneges on the deal and a revengeful Diek kidnaps the city's children. All seems lost until a team of mercenaries, including a has-been sorcerer, a bucktoothed giant, and a wisecracking dwarf, set out to rescue the children. A really hilarious read. A tiny dent in the botton edge of the back cover, o/w boards and text are clean and unmarked, tight and square. The dustjacket shows a short, light scratch on the back panel and some slight edgewear, no tears, no creasing or chipping, not price-clipped.
