A prelude to creation of the Adirondack Park Agency in 1971 to oversee millions of acres of public and private lands. An uncommon item with noteworthy provenance. Ownership stamp on the front cover of Richard W. Lawrence (1909-2002), the first chairman of the APA from 1971-75 during its tumultuous early years. Lawrence was a lawyer, businessman, and conservationist who was named to head the new APA by Gov. Nelson Rockefeller. He was also a founder of Adirondack Life magazine and the Essex County Historical Association. Stapled paper binding. 11 x 8.5 inches. 68 typescript pages, printed recto sides only. VG with surface wear at the edges of the covers. Clean and securely bound. Laid-in APA brochure from the early 1970s. (See the second image.)
