Description:
New York: D. Appleton-Century Company, Inc., 1947. 281 pages. First printing of the first book by Goodis. It is a noir novel sometimes called his "revenge novel" because the primary female character is based on the wife who had just left him. The portrait of her is unflattering, but she is the prototype for the women in his later paperback noir mysteries. The book is in near fine condition in a dust jacket that is clean and bright and split along the length of the rear flap fold.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/About Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.

Description:
New York: Henry Holt & Company, 1986. 243 pages. Sue Grafton's scarce third Kinsey Millhone mystery. First edition, first printing with number line including "1". This copy is clean and tight in an attractive dust jacket that is clean and has the $14.95 price intact on the front flap. A previous owner has written her name on both front endpapers as well as the date of purchase on the free endpaper. There is a 1/4" slit along the front gutter that I missed the first 2 times I examined the book. The white dust jacket has mellowed slightly but has none of the soiling so common on this book. There is a faint water stain that comes up about 1/2" at the bottom of the spine and along bottom of front panel (again, this is so unnoticeable that I missed this also on my first examination). Much nicer than it sounds and certainly an acceptable copy for the collector--and at an attractive price.. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good +. 8vo - over 7¾" -…

Description:
New York: Phoenix Press, 1947. 255 pages. 12mo. Scarce first printing of the second of Keeler's webworkian novels featuring crime analyst Tuttleton T. Trotter, a character loosely based on Sherlock Holmes. The plot is typical for Keeler--a deliberately convoluted web of strangely connected people and objects. Keeler was a prolific, though far from successful, writer, but since his death in 1967 he has developed a cult following that now includes science fiction writers Neil Gaiman and Philip José Farmer as well as television writer Ken Keeler. The book is in very good condition: clean and tight, with minor toning of endpapers; a tiny rusty paperclip mark on pages 240 & 241. The dust jacket is in very good condition: clean and bright, with some minor edgewear and a few very short closed tears and is now protected in mylar.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Collectible-Very Good/Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Book.

Description:
Cleveland, Ohio: The Arthur Westbrook Company, 1908. 256 pages. The second in a series of mystery novels featuring a detective named Joe Phenix (sometimes mistakenly listed on the cover as Joe Phoenix). It was first published in 1884 by Beadle and Adams--scarce in any edition! Although Arthur Westbrook reprinted this book over a number of years, the rear cover provides a significant clue that this is the original 1908 printing. The first two Sherlock Holmes books listed actually were the same book (A Study in Scarlet). When the error was noticed, Westbrook published another book as the second on the list, and the list on all subsequent printings of Joe Phenix--Private Detective reflected that change. The book is in very good condition for a pulp paperback from that era: clean and tight, minimal edgewear at spine extremities; one tiny chip at top edge of rear cover; pages tanned but still reasonably supple.. First Edition Thus. Paperback. Very Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Book.
