Description:
New York, New York, U.S.A.: Simon and Schuster, 1948. 1st Edition. Hardcover. Good/Fair. This is one of the classics of early science fiction. Serialized in Astounding Science Fiction in 1945, this 1948 copy is the first book publication of the story. Unlike later editions, this edition uses the "A" with a macron over it to represent the term "Null-A." This is not a book club edition. The cover is unclipped, with the price showing, but it is heavily worn at the edges, with half an inch or so missing at the top of the spine. The book itself is worn at the edges, with bumping of the corners. The spine is tight, with the title and author name on the spine, and the art on the front cover, clear. The pages show almost no yellowing and are toned evenly. This is a rare first edition that would make an excellent place-holder for a serious collector. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall.
